Swimming Starts...

Today was the first of our lessons at the Onekawa Pools.  We will be swimming for 4 weeks, finishing off with our swimming sports. We were split into three groups to start working on the skills we need to improve our swimming technique.

St Pat's Day Celebrations

What a wonderful day we had with our new Buddy Class, Room 4!  We had lots to make and do and eat!  Check out the photos from our morning together.  Then the whole school got on buses and went to the movies!  We watched 'Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2'.  What a wonderful way to celebrate the patron saint of our school!

Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday

Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Day, is celebrated a day before Ash Wednesday.  It is where people make pancakes to use up all of the rich foods in their pantry, like butter and eggs, so they are ready to fast like Jesus.  On Tuesday SM13 celebrated Shrove Tuesday and we all made pancakes with lots of yummy toppings and sauces.  We came up group by group and made our own pancakes.  It was really fun and we all enjoyed it.  Yum, yum!  By Niamh, Brendon and Elizabeth.

On the 5th of March we celebrated Ash Wednesday in our school hall with a liturgy.  During the liturgy we all got marked with a cross of ashes on our forehead.  The ashes are collected when the palms from last Easter are burned.  It is a reminder to us that we all come from ashes and to ashes we all will return.  We are also marked with the ashes because it marks our commitment to Jesus Christ and God.  We think about what we are sorry for and the wrong things we have done in the past year.  We ask for forgiveness so we can become closer to God.  By Faustina and Charity.

TACS Triathlon

Well Done to all the competitors on Friday, particularly Anneliese, Andrew and Jack who placed 2nd in the Yr7 team race.  You were all so well behaved and I was so impressed with how well you supported each other!  Congratulations for a fantastic effort by all!
