I learnt on the hands on activitys that each pot of honeys different flavor depends on what flower that they collect nectar from and that each year ONE hive can collect 54 kg of honey.
Wow Abby, that was a really cool interactive day that you had with your class mates. You have learnt so much and in turn taught us as a Family so much about the Arataki Honey Farm. Pretty scary reality to know how vulnerable our honey bees are with the varroa mite. So pleased that we have been planting lots of purple flowering plants in our garden to encourage the bees. We are a step in the right direction. Well done all and keep having this fun learning environment!!! Thank you Miss Hewett.
My fav part of the trip was the bee onesies, and all the different types of honey there is my favourite honey is manuka because of its strong taste and the way it helps with my health.
In a bucket there is 54kgs and 1 hive makes 10x this amount.
ReplyDeleteI am really scared of bees but now I know that without them we would be dead within 5 years I'm not so scared of them
ReplyDeleteIt was really fun and cool to look up really close at the bees coming in and out of the hives.

ReplyDeleteI learnt that the flavour of the honey depends on the flower the hone bee goes to and also that the bees were some how used as a weapon of war
