More Speeches
Today we watched this incredibly confident boy give a speech to 20,000 educators! Think about the important features of his speech. What things can you use to influence your speech? This is a wonderful example of how to pace yourself, use expression and use dynamics to bring the audience along with you.
Speeches
Yesterday we watched a few video clips to inspire us to write good speeches. We viewed Martin Luther King's 'I Had A Dream' and tried to understand Winston Churchill's accent in his 'We Shall Fight Them On The Beaches'. Then we watched a very thought provoking speech from a NZ Polynesian boy.
What did you learn about writing speeches from these clips?
What was your reaction to the 'Brown Brother' speech?
Get your parents to watch it and ask them to leave a comment about their thoughts.

Grandma, Grandma
Check out how well we worked with our buddies last week to teach them the hand actions for Grandma, Grandma. We had so much fun. Some of our buddies were great at picking it up and others needed some practise...Ms Bevan!! We are looking forward to learning some more of these singing games for the playground and teaching them to our buddies.

Swimming Sports
On the 16th April we held the Senior Swimming Sports at the Onekawa Pools. It was fantastic to see everyone have such a positive attitude towards their swimming. Many children competed in races they had never done before. There was some amazing support and some competitive races! Well done to all the swimmers!
HOPE
We had a mufti day to raise money for Caritas. The money we raised will go to helping people in the Soloman Islands.
Jesus Meal
At the end of the term, to conclude our learning in the Jesus unit, the whole school gathered together to have a Jesus Meal. We ate wraps with meat and salad, fruit, and dried fruit. Some of the Year 8 children and teachers served us. It was a great way to finish our unit!
